We have olive oil, olives, couscous, almonds, sun-dried tomatoes, tahini, za’atar (thyme), honey and olive oil soap. All are made from native plants, picked and processed in the naturally organic Palestinian traditional way for generations.

OLIVE OIL

Olive Oils from the land where olive oil first began. Canaan olive oils are naturally organic, owing to ancient Canaanite traditions of farming. We manage the production process from the harvest to the press. Our bottled olive oil comes in two varieties:

Nabali Tree

The indigenous olive tree of our country, it predominates in the western region and yields a medium to light olive oil with a fruity flavor.

Rumi Tree

This olive tree has been maintained and cultivated in Palestine since the era of the Roman Empire. It produces a robust and pungent olive oil.

NABALI PICKLED GREEN OLIVES

Pickled according to the Palestinian tradition with water, olive oil, sea salt and lemon juice, all from our farmers’ orchards. A 250g jar of Green Olives is available in the fair trade gift basket in the US.

NABALI DRIED BLACK OLIVES

Tree-ripened olives, dried, salted and smothered in our olive oil. A 250g jar of Black Olives is available in the fair trade gift basket in the US.

SUN-DRIED COUSCOUS

Made from organic wheat produced by the same organic olive growers. A portion of the wheat is boiled, sun-dried and cracked, hand-rolled in freshly ground whole wheat flour, then steamed and sun-dried by women-owned cooperatives. This product helps extend opportunities to Palestinian women – one of Canaan’s goals. A 250g package of couscous is available in the fair trade gift basket in the US.

SUN-DRIED TOMATOES

Our flavorful tomatoes are grown by producer groups in the Palestinian valleys. They are carefully washed, sliced and sun-dried by women-owned cooperatives, then pickled in organic olive oil by Canaan. These tomatoes stand on their own as a worthy side dish and are delicious in recipes.

ALMONDS

Naturally sun-dried organic almonds from the particularly flavorful local almond tree varieties of Palestine. A 150g package of almonds is available in the fair trade gift basket in the US.

TAHINI

Naturally sun-dried organic sesame seeds grown by Canaan’s producer groups and milled locally, providing premium quality organic Tahini. A 350g jar of Tahini is available in the fair trade gift basket in the US.

ZA’ATAR (Thyme)

This much appreciated and locally-loved plant is found throughout the hills of Palestine. Za’atar represents the daily Palestinian breakfast with freshly baked bread and olive oil. Canaan’s Za’atar is cultivated by Canaan’s olive growers and prepared by women-owned cooperatives with roasted organic local sesame seeds and sumac, a favorite Palestinian spice. HONEY

Wildflower blossom honey redolent with delicate, nuanced flavor. Palestinian honey is one of the world’s most prized and ancient treats.

OLIVE OIL SOAP

Based on a tradition passed down since the 7th century, our soap is 72% olive oil. Made and cut by hand — a skill passed down over generations.
